Curcumin is the primary curcuminoid comprising turmeric spices used in food curry. It is native to both Indonesia and South India. Curcumin is a member of the ginger (Zingiberaceae) family. Curcumin is very light in color and is also commonly used as an additive to foodstuffs. Extract of curcumin is often used as a dietary supplement because of its powerful antioxidant properties. As with all supplements it is possible side effects that may be associated with taking curcumin

There are several side effects of taking curcumin which is very common and is considered to be any real cause for concern as they usually subside very quickly. They include nausea and diarrhea. Mild upset stomach is the most common side effect of curcumin.
allergic reactions
In some cases the turmeric extract is applied directly over the skin. This can cause allergic reactions in the skin which is usually small and disappears quickly. People might notice a rash irritation and swelling of the skin where turmeric was used.
Hemorrhagic Stroke Symptoms
Some people may experience a very dangerous side effect of taking curcumin. Hermorrhagic stroke symptoms are potentially dangerous curcumin side effects. Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when the brain is bleeding. People might notice either numbness or weakness in the legs or arms (or both) changes in speech and vision or persistent extreme headaches. In such situations should emergency medical attention is required.
gastrointestinal signs
Signs of gastrointestinal illness is also potentially dangerous side effects of taking curcumin. Some of these effects are waiting dark stools bloody stools and vomit blood. These are all gastrointestinal bleeding symptoms. People who experience these side effects should stop taking curcumin immediately and contact their physician.
Bruises and Cuts
Other serious side effects of taking curcumin include being able bruises and have cut that terminates bleeding very slowly. People who experience these side effects should notify your doctor immediately.
