myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) is a debilitating disease that effects a large amount of people worldwide. although it is a very common disease it has recently been recognized as a serious medical condition. symptoms of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis can vary greatly from sufferer to sufferer.
myalgic encephalomyelitis suffer sometimes seem completely normal without symptoms. they can go about their daily lives and exercise as non-affected would. What is not seen is the day after effect. it has been described as the muscles that run out of energy and ability to function completely stops. this is then completed bed rest is necessary.
these are not the only symptoms of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. often suffer memory problems and forget what they’ve just been told. they may also suffer from digestive problems shivering fever and unrelenting pain. every sufferer will have its own set of symptoms and this is why the disease is very difficult to diagnose.
there has been much disagreement myalgic encephalomyelitis. because it is very difficult to diagnose many people treat the disease with skepticism. it is left up to the doctor to decide whether the sufferer actually has the disease or not. in 1980 it was brought to public attention by the media under the name yuppie flu. many people still consider it a catchall term for just tired and dull but it is a serious medically recognized disease.
doctors may administer medications to combat the symptoms of ME but there is very little traditional medicine can do to help the sick. self-help and sticking to certain known regimes seem to be of greatest assistance. The disease can last for a while from a few months to decades. there is a relapse and remit disease and periods of feeling well and disease can vary greatly from person to person.
